Sun Moon & Stars Creations

I want to tell you a little about Sun Moon & Stars Creations (SMSC). SMSC is a small shop run by a friend of mine, Jennifer Pipinou. SMSC brings together three fantastic artisans, and offers their handmade items for sale.

Here's one of my favourite pieces from each of the three artists.

Felixstowe: Craft Fair and Charity Shops

Felixstowe is a small seaside town in Suffolk. It's about a 15 minute train journey away from Ipswich, so Michael and I like to visit now and again. We went on Saturday as there was to be a craft fair at one of the amusement arcades. Unfortunately the craft fair was a little disappointing as it was very small and we walked around it in about five minutes. There were a couple of nice stalls there though, selling handmade jewellery and cushions.

My favourite was a stall from Hand On Heart Designs, where I got these sweet Flump earrings. I would have loved some of the cushion covers from another stall as well, but we don't have any cushions to put them on at the moment!

After the craft fair we had a browse around the charity shops. I was lucky enough to pick up this huge stack of cross stitching magazines for £2 from the YMCA shop. I've been dying to stitch up one of Joan Elliott's ladies, and there were a few designs in these magazines. I've started on Peacock Lady and I'll be posting pictures of her soon.

I saw this little guy on Tumblr and just had to see more of Felting Dreams works.

Adorable aren't they? I think the little fox is my favourite.

These cuties are made by Etsy seller hanaletters.

I think their cuteness comes from their simplicity. 

She uses the same designs over and over, but mixes them up, using different colours and different accessories to create unique brooches.

There are so many different things in the shop, you're bound to find something that suits you!

Symmetric pattern stitched as blackwork.

Last week my symmetric pattern was featured as a Daily Deviation on Deviant Art. I got lots of wonderful feedback and quite a few people said they would like to use my pattern. I asked everybody who said so to show me their finish, and the first has just come in.

This was done by LunaStarFighter who thought the pattern would look nice translated to blackwork. I think it looks great, and I would love to try this myself with some filling patterns as well.

Sprite Stitch September/October swap gifts.

As I mentioned before, I participated in a Sprite Stitch swap. I sent out the headcrab and received these goodies from Caslzelda:

She managed to fit in all my favourite games, Puyo Puyo with the card, Tetris with the necklace, and Pokemon and Bioshock with the cross stitch. The quote is from Bioshock, and the Slowpoke, of course, from Pokemon. She also sent a little purse, tiny clogs,  a beautiful scarf and chocolate.

I was thrilled to receive such wonderful goodies, thank you Caslzelda!

They are made out of fimo clay, fur and wire, and are moveable.

No information on whether they are for sale, which is probably just as well...

I have to show you these adorable octopuses! They are made by Etsy seller IrraNellie.

They are so sweet, I wish I could buy them both! There's also lots of other adorable stuff in the shop, such as this panda.

And this funky Yeti.

So, I suggest you go and visit the shop and buy everything to remove the temptation from me.

...I really want to have a go at needle felting now...

Mirabilia Royal Holiday

I saw this piece in the window of one of the local needlework shops here, Naald en Draad. I was going to ask you guys if you knew who designed it, but I thought it looked like a Mirabilia design, and it is. I think it is so beautiful and delicate. I also really like that the white is stitched with Rainbow Gallery Wisper thread, which can be made fluffy.

I would really like to stitch a Miribilia design one day, but for now the supplies needed are outside of my budget.
